There is a need in the church for not just a theology on power, but also a theology on pain, because both are needed to navigate the different seasons of life we will experience.

In the New Testament, Jesus tells the parable of the soils to describe the kind of responses people will give to His announcement of the kingdom.  What He makes clear in this parable is that the condition of the soil determines the quality of the harvest.  Likewise, the condition of the heart determines the quality of the fruit that we are producing in our lives.
